Business in the Bay Area {Shelley Dee Photography & Artistic Design}

It has been a while since i have picked up my camera for a photo session other than taking some snap shots of our kids. The reason being is because my husband, our kids and i have relocated back to the place both my husband and i grew up.....Marin County, the Northern San Francisco Bay Area. We lived in Oregon for almost 10 years and made some wonderful friends there who we will miss so very much. At the same time we are very happy to be back in Marin where we are close to family and long time friends.

I am very excited to be establishing my business here in the Bay Area. The photo sessions i offer can take place indoors or outdoors. I love taking photos outdoors taking advantage of natural sunlight and there are so many beautiful locations i have scoped out from San Francisco to Sonoma County that will be perfect for any outdoor session. From precious newborns to beautiful weddings and everything in between, i hope you give me the chance to capture your special moments that you can look back on for years to come.

The photos below are of our children taken at one of my favorite locations. To book a session here or any other location give me a call @ 415-827-9646 or you can find me on facebook here or here for my fan page. Taneisha & Tejay ~ Wedding Photography {California SF Bay Area Photographer.....Shelley Hohe}

I had the pleasure of doing my very first wedding for my wonderful friends daughter. I have to admit i was a bit nervous being my first wedding being the perfectionist i am. I wanted the pictures to turn out beautiful for them. I couldn't have had a better couple to photograph for my first wedding. They were young, fun and absolutely stunning in front of my camera. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to be your wedding photographer. It was a blessing to witness the vows you made to one another. May you have a lifetime filled with laughter and love! Lord bless you as your journey is beginning together as husband and wife!!!

The Toscanini Children~ Newborn/Children {Oregon Photographer...Shelley Hohe}

I was so blessed to be able to get the chance to do a photo session for my friends children. Not only are they super adorable but they are super sweet as well. It was so awesome to see Jesus in these children especially big sister...she has such a heart for Jesus! As a matter of fact she asked me instead of saying "cheese can I say Jesus instead".....absolutely melted my heart with joy. Thanks to my friends for letting me capture these precious moments of your sweet children. You both are wonderful parents!!!!

Finally an Update! ~ Personal {Oregon Photographer...Shelley Hohe}

I know it has been awhile since i have posted on my blog...please forgive me. I also know i was supposed to blog during our "Tour Across the US" but like i had a feeling i ended up having so much fun that at the end of the day i was wiped out! Plus i took over 2000 photos...yes that's right...2000, which i had a hard time figuring out which ones i was going to post. Well now that i am finally done uploading, editing and saving all these photos i took, let me take you back to March 1oth.......

March 1oth we left for our road trip from Oregon to North Carolina. It took us about 5 days to drive there and along the way we stopped in Nevada, Salt Lake City, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. Salt Lake city was absolutely beautiful and between SLC to TN we didn't stop much because it was just down right freezing and there was not much too see except flat land (that's right not a Starbucks in sight!). Although we did stop in Kansas to check out a Wizard of Oz Museum which i really enjoyed being that it's one of my favorite childhood movies and in St. Louis we made a quick stop to see the Arch. In Tennessee we were able to visit with my brother and sister in law which was so much fun and yes i did get some of his famous pecan pie, let me tell you it was oh so good. It was so funny because they said the look on my face when i was taking each bite was like pure joy and it was! Our last stop... Pinehurst NC to see my family :)!

We stayed in NC for a week which was so great! We loved staying at my dad and step-mom's house. My step-mom was so hospitable, the entire upstairs of their house is made up for guests. It was like staying at a fancy bed & breakfast and my dad even took a WHOLE week off from golf to spend time with us..i feel so loved!!! We had a very relaxing time hanging out and fishing at the lake behind their house, driving to Myrtle Beach, SC to see the Atlantic Ocean, going to Pinehurst Golf and Country Club and being able to visit with my step sisters and their families. After having such a wonderful and memorable week with them, it was really hard to have to say goodbye!

On our way back to Oregon we decided to take a different route, driving through Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada. On our way back through Tennessee an old high school friend of mine highly recommended that we stop to eat at a Cracker Barrel. We did and it became a "favorite" place we stopped at quite often on our trip back home. Being that there are Cracker Barrels everywhere EXCEPT the west coast, sadly Arizona being the last place to have a CB...we stopped one last time. I loved sitting in the white rocking chairs in front of their restaurant and i sure do miss their sweet tea....yummmm! We also stopped in Memphis to see the MLK JR. Museum and Graceland...sure would have liked my sister to be with us, she is a huge Elvis fan! In Arizona we went to the Meteor Crater Museum and one of our favorite places we were able to see was the amazing and beautiful Grand Canyon. It was absolutely breathtaking. It is one place everyone must make a point to see sometime in their life. In Nevada we drove over the Hoover Dam and we also spent the night in Vegas.

This road trip was such a blessing to our family. We were able to spend quality time together without the day to day interruptions like bills, phone calls, work, me having to clean our house, etc. and we were able to see almost half of the US. "21" states all together and the best part was meeting so many nice people along the way. This is one geography assignment our kids will never forget! In the end it was very nice to get home to see our sweet kitty and of course sleep in our own bed...aaahhhh! During our road trip one of my favorite quotes from the Wizard of Oz kept popping up in my head, " if i ever go looking for my hearts desire again...i shouldn't look any further than my own back yard" after being on the road for over 3 weeks you really do realize "There's No Place Like Home!"

Once we arrived home our schedules became quite busy. We are in the process of moving to California. My husband went ahead of the kids and i to start marketing his business and in the meantime i have been quite busy being the mama, housekeeper, teacher, grocery shopper, bill payer, cook, house packer, photo downloader (remember the 2000 vacation photos), birthday planner and at the end of the day spending time talking on the phone with my husband. I just could not find the time to update this blog of mine till now.

In the next few months it will get even more busy with all of our family having birthdays in June (even our cat.....yes in order to be a part of our little family it's mandatory to have a June bday! :) we have our big move ahead of us and i am preparing to photograph my very first wedding in July....i am so excited!!! Just remember if i am not on my blog, i am just preparing for our new adventure and i look forward to moving my photography business to the North San Francisco Bay Area. I am so excited to be able to do some photo sessions for my family and friends down there..it will be so much fun!!! I am always on facebook so you can always catch me there for more frequent updates and if you want to become a fan on my facebook fanpage you can go here !

Below are some of my favorite photos from our trip:

Tour across the US: Salt Lake City ~ Personal {Oregon Photographer...Shelley Hohe}

Here are some photos taken of some beautiful churches in Salt Lake City, Utah. We really enjoyed SLC it is one of the cleanest metropolitan cities i have ever seen. There is so much to see there but we did not have too much time to look around. I am glad that we were able to see some beautiful architecture!

Our first part of our trip has been quite an adventure..... in Medford we ran into a snow storm, in Klamath Falls we had f15 fighter jets fly right over and around our car, our own personal air show. In Nevada we saw nothing but but donkeys in the middle of the road, our first overnight stop was in Salt lake City where we explored some amazing churches, Wyoming was not very exciting and made it difficult to play i-spy, we also had a hard time driving due to an ice storm so we ended up staying over in Cheyenne Wyoming. I was so tired last night that i thought we made it to Nebraska but we didn't due to the storm. So now we are a little behind schedule.

Not only is the cold, snowy weather slowing us down, but when mapping out our road trip i forgot to factor the time differences in. We feel like we are chasing time. Well at least on the way back we will get that extra time to d0 a little more exploring. We were wanting to stop in Kansas today to go to the Wizard of Oz Museum but due to the fact we are running behind schedule, we will have to stop there on the way back.

I thought i would have taken more pictures but with it being absolutely freezing it is making it hard to want to get out of the car ;) I used to think i preferred the cold over the heat, but this cold is chilling to the bone. Definitely not good for my sensitive skin, my lips are chapped and my skin is so dry. Thank God for good chapped stick and lotion! I will remember this the next time i complain about how hot it is in the summer.

Well my hubby just got out of the shower so it's time to wrap this up get our continental breakfast and hit the road. We are hoping to make it to Missouri by tonight, please keep us in your prayers for traveling mercies. We would greatly appreciate it!!!!

Coming soon...Tour across the U.S.A ~ Personal {Oregon Photographer...Shelley Hohe}

Oh yeah! A road trip across the U.S.A....how exciting!!! Soon we will be driving across the country to visit our family on the east coast. Our destination...Pinehurst, North Carolina to be exact. It's been almost 10 years since my Dad and step-mom moved from California to the beautiful and majestic Pinehurst area in NC. They went out there to visit and play golf at one of the finest golf resorts in the world, the next thing you know they were moving out there. Can you blame them, what else could you want if you were a huge golfer about to retire??? As Top Ten Golf Resorts in the World says Pinehurst http://www.pinehurst.com/offers offers a quintessential southern getaway! It must be "the" place to be, because after my step-sisters went out for a visit they ended up moving out there as well.

In the last almost 10 years my Dad and Step-mom have come to Oregon to visit us many times, but we haven't ever made it out to where they live. Flying was always a huge factor for me (i am not a huge fan being 27,000 feet in the air ) and we never were able to take much time off to be able to be gone long enough to drive. Well now that we are in the process of moving back to California and in between jobs for my husband we thought now is the perfect time to take advantage of going across the U.S.A

The last few weeks i have been sick so i haven't been able to get that excited. Now that i am feeling much better it is sinking in that we are in for a great adventure. Some big stops we will be making along the way is Salt Lake City Utah, Topeka Kansas...home of the greatest Wizard of Oz museum ( and my all time favorite movie..."there's no place like home") and Knoxville Tennessee where we get to spend a few days with Roberts brother and sister in law.

Roberts brother is the restaurant manager of the famous steak house Ruth's Chris and do you know who gets to go eat there???? You guessed it, we do :) Besides being a restaurant manager, he is an awesome cook and he makes the most delish chocolate pecan pie in the whole wide world! My sister in law said he is making one especially for me, i am dreaming about my first bite already Mmmmm mmmm!

It will be so fun to check out the beautiful area they live in. Maybe we will even get the chance to bump into some famous country recording artists at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville Tennessee, wouldn't that be a hoot!! Besides visiting with my brother and sister in law we are also hoping to get the chance to meet up with an old high school friend, his wife and their new baby boy.....i think a baby photo session is in store for this photographer ;)

Our final stop and destination is Pinehurst North Carolina where we will spend the majority of our trip visiting with my Dad, step-mom, step-sisters, niece and nephew. It will be so nice to get some quality time with them and to check out the majestic place they live in. I miss living close to my Dad so i will definitely be soaking up every minute i have with him. I am just so excited to get a whole week of waking up and having breakfast with them, taking a nice walk with them around the beautiful golf resort where they live and to be able to explore the history of the east coast will be so fascinating to me.

I have been studying up on Pinehurst with the kids so they could get an idea of where we are going and 3 things that we keep learning is that they are known for their rich history, their southern hospitality and being known as the golf capital of the world. Not only is golf a main attraction there but Pinehurst Resort also offers one of the top 50 tennis experiences according to Tennis Magazine. We sure love tennis, we might have to just bring our racquets with us ;)

During this road trip i have decided to take full advantage my my camera gear. I am hoping to document every thing and new place i see in pictures. I will be taking many pictures and sharing them along the way. I am getting notebooks for the kids and myself to also document in as well. I am hoping to find notebooks with pockets for postcards and items we collect along the way. This will be one geography lesson our kids will never forget!

So don't forget to stay tuned in for our "Tour across the U.S.A {IN PICTURES}" coming soon to a blog near you!
